Motorhome or Travel trailer Insurance

Coverage for every journey
Motorhome and travel trailer insurance is a contract between the policyholder, and an insurance company designed to provide financial protection in the event of accidents or incidents involving the insured recreational vehicle (RV). In addition to the core coverage included in an RV policy, optional coverage may be available to provide enhanced protection when the RV is used as a permanent residence. This coverage is essential for any RV owner, as it serves as a safeguard against a wide range of risks depending on the protection selected, including collision accidents, accident-related injuries, vandalism, theft, fire, flooding, hail damage, animal collisions, and other unforeseen events that can damage the recreational vehicle and disrupt travel plans, temporary living arrangements, and financial peace of mind.
Among the primary coverages available are:
Liability Coverage
- Covers property damage and bodily injury caused to others in accidents where the insured is legally responsible. In Texas, the minimum required coverage is $30,000 per injured person, up to a maximum of $60,000 per accident, and $25,000 for property damage per accident, commonly known as 30/60/25 coverage. Because recreational vehicles are larger and may cause significantly greater damage than a standard automobile, we strongly advise policyholders to consider higher liability limits—at or above the minimum requirements of the destination state—to better protect their assets in the event of multi-vehicle accidents, severe injuries, or the total loss of another driver's vehicle.
Comprehensive Coverage
- Protects against theft or damage caused by natural disasters, vandalism, and other non-collision-related losses.
Collision Coverage
- Covers the repair or replacement of the recreational vehicle following an accident involving a collision with another vehicle or object.
Medical Payments Coverage
- Covers medical expenses for the insured and passengers. Because an RV may serve as a temporary residence while traveling, this coverage can be especially valuable, as it may help cover injuries sustained both inside and around the recreational vehicle.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
- PIP is generally associated with motor vehicles such as automobiles, trucks, and motorcycles. Similar to Medical Payments coverage, it helps cover accident-related medical expenses regardless of fault. However, RV insurance functions differently. Motorhome and travel trailer policies are primarily designed to provide protection against physical damage to the recreational vehicle and liability arising from accidents involving its ownership, operation, or use.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage (UM/UIM)
- Provides protection when you are involved in an accident caused by a driver who has no insurance or insufficient insurance coverage. It may also apply in hit-and-run accidents, making it critical to gather evidence and obtain witness information whenever possible.
Towing and Roadside Assistance / Trip Interruption
- Covers towing to the nearest repair facility if the recreational vehicle becomes disabled due to a covered accident or mechanical breakdown while traveling.
*It is important to understand that policy terms, conditions, and coverage availability may vary from one insurance company to another. It is critical to carefully review each policy in order to fully understand the scope of coverage and any exclusions that may apply.
